Anomaly Scan (20-Week Scan) at Vardhan Fertility Centre

A Critical Milestone in Your Pregnancy – Detailed, Accurate, and Reassuring

An Anomaly Scan, also known as the Level 2 Scan or 20-week scan, is one of the most important ultrasounds during pregnancy. At Vardhan Fertility Centre, we perform comprehensive anomaly scans to check for any structural or developmental abnormalities in the baby. This detailed scan ensures early detection and management of fetal concerns, giving parents peace of mind and the best start for their little one.

Conducted between 18 to 22 weeks of pregnancy, the Anomaly Scan is a detailed ultrasound that examines each part of the baby’s body—including the brain, spine, heart, kidneys, stomach, limbs, and face. It also evaluates the placenta, amniotic fluid, and umbilical cord position.

  • Neural tube defects (e.g., spina bifida)
  • Congenital heart defects
  • Abdominal wall defects
  • Limb abnormalities or cleft lip
  • Kidney or urinary tract issues
  • Skeletal and cranial malformations

While this scan does not detect chromosomal abnormalities like Down syndrome directly, it can reveal physical markers that may prompt further testing (e.g., NIPT, Amniocentesis).

  • Performed by experienced fetal medicine specialists
  • High-definition 2D, 3D & 4D ultrasound imaging
  • Supportive counseling and explanation of findings
  • Immediate referrals for advanced fetal care if needed
  • Accurate reporting and patient-centered care
