Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy

Laparoscopy is a type of surgery performed in abdomen or pelvic region for female partner through small slit assisted along with tiny video camera. It is performed in IVF treatment to identify if pelvic area is the cause for infertility or if there is any problem in pelvic region or reproductive tract. It is also called as minimally invasive surgery (MIS) or keyhole surgery as it will be performed by one or more small incisions that will be include insertion of video camera or small microsurgical instruments. It is useful when ultrasound fail to diagnose infections caused by scar tissues, injuries, ovarian cysts or fibroids that affect functionality of woman reproductive system. It is also used to analyze blockages in fallopian tubes and mild endometriosis will be identified only through laparoscopy.

Hysteroscopy is used for diagnosing uterus related problems. A thin lightweight device will be inserted into uterus through vagina to analyze if there is any abnormality related to uterine bleeding, that may be caused by heavy bleeding during menstrual cycle. It is performed to remove scar tissue and to carry out sterilization of components blocking fallopian tubes.
